till i forget the flame by ~UncleBrazzie:iconUncleBrazzie:

these are candles
i believe
burning fierce and gaping holes
into the canvas of the night
through which are glimpsed
a million mismatched eyes
of strangers staring in

these are candles
whose frolicking flames
cast flickering shadows
on the cavernous walls
of the world outside

the blind puppetteer
drops his manacled cast in clumsiness
as the audience sniggers
in derision

                                                  their very lashes
                                                                  singed
                                             on smoldering wicks

globs of wax
dribble endlessly
onto the tapestry
and insects burn
when passing near

these are candles
don't you see
all the stuff of memory
and dreams and fears
have turned to soot
and lust and love
are spent in pitiful puddles
of thickening corpsewax
from which i sculpt
with yearning fingers
the candles of slow burning

I love it for many different reasons.

The flow of your wording goes together amazingly.
The imagery with this piece is just, beautiful.
The words you chose are filled with thought and feeling.
You made it so that it doesn't matter if you spent 5 min on it, or 5 days, because it's just beautiful.
Anyway you look at it, it's just, amazing (:

Thanks for clarifying.
Sometimes I wonder if "it's just beautiful" is enough. Not that I mind, mind ;)
But sometimes I wonder if, like wallpaper or supermodels, "just beautiful" is really all we should be after. On one hand, aesthetics is the artist's primary aim, even when (s)he descends into ugliness in pursuit of artistic truths. But beauty can never be the end-all-be-all reason for any of this.

Again, I'm happy you find beauty in it, for that's what I did try to put into it. But on the other hand, as a writer, as a poet, I am constantly gnawing my hunger: what, if anything, does the reader find in any of this, other than beauty?

Just tossing ideas here, sorry. Blame the BBC ;)

Just took a quick look at some of your poems.

I haven't commented on any of them yet because, (and I'm being somewhat deliberately blunt here) they're not very good. I could say a lot more about why I think they're not very good, but I'd rather not step on your babies unless you invite me to. Sorry if that sounds a little crass, but when I critique, I tend to voice my feelings, and I know people sometimes take that the wrong way.

So if you really want me to, I can swing mine axe for a bit. All in good spirits, needless to add (but needlessly adding it anyway ;) ).

I really have no reason to comment back to you.

99% of my poetry is old.
However I've won several contests with them.
And I've had several favorites on them on other websites.

However, it is ofcourse your opinion.
